December 24, 2004: Local fishermen on the Bay of Bengal, Chennai. They saw us taking their picture so they quickly paddled in to say hello and offer us a ride on their boat (for a 'small' fee of course!). Since none of us had our bathing suits on we politely declined. Sadly, when the tsunami hit 2 days later more than 200 fishermen died in Chennai.
