Borobudur, Central Java

Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple/monument in the world, which is a little ironic as Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world with a 1-3% Buddhist population. We hardly saw a soul in the lower levels of the monument where we spent 3/4 hour hearing lots of facts about the monument and philosophy of Buddhism, but tons of people on the top level here trying to reach through the large stupa (bell shape) to touch the lucky Buddha (see left).
