World Cup Fever Hits Europe

Spending the summer in Europe was fantastic for many reasons, but one was the chance to experience World Cup fever first hand. Italy and Germany both made it to the final 4 so there were always people crowded into cafes to watch the games and continually celebrations on the streets. I bought an offical German jersey before the end of the tournament, as I figured it would become more expensive if they won the whole thing.

Hosting the World Cup (and doing well in it) gave the country of Germany something to celebrate about and allowed people to be proud of their country for the first time in such a long time. It was awesome to see each country supporting their team so passionately.

This large screen was set up in the middle of Salzburg's city square. It seemed very juxtaposed against the statues of Mozart and old buildings, but it allowed people from all over the world to come and cheer for their team.
