Hendrik and Myriam's visit to Indonesia
We decided to do a bike tour of the local villages around my city. Since the weather is hotter than Myriam and Hendrik are used to, we left home at 6:45 before the sun got too hot. Needless to say we all got a bit burnt and it was still about 27 degrees. This photo is shows the rice paddy directly behind my apartment. We were watching the farmer turn the field yesterday from my living room window, so it was interesting to see it all up close. My apartment is on the far right.

We had a photo stop along the way to get a good shot of the local farmer's water buffalo. This big guy is used to plow the rice fields in the traditional way....no machinery needed!

At the end of our village tour we stopped to take a photo of some guys playing badminton on self-made court: thin strips of bamboo placed appropriately on the ground. One guy wanted to take extra photos together with me and Myriam....then we got this shot with locals who came over to see why 4 'bules' (white foreigners) were in their neighbourhood. It was a lot of fun:)

Hendrik and Mark are taking the grocery cart up the escalator to find a handphone centre. Hendrik's first purchase in Indonesia....a new hand phone to use during his time here.
